The Regional Growth Committee (RGC) serves as the policy advisory body to the Council regarding long-range transportation planning, land use, and other growth related issues. The RGC, in cooperation with local governments, as well as the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT), Utah Transit Authority (UTA), and other stakeholders, is responsible for the development of the Regional Transportation Plan (RTP), Wasatch Choice Vision, and Transportation and Land Use Connection (TLC) program. These responsibilities include the facilitation of communication between local, state, and federal officials regarding various planning issues, educational opportunities to improve technical planning skills, and “best practices” in planning.
Both the Air Quality Committee and the Active Transportation Committee formally coordinate with the RGC since the committee is responsible for long-range planning issues. The RGC is assisted by two technical advisory committees (TAC), including Plan TAC, who represents the Salt Lake City-West Valley City area, and the Ogden-Layton area TAC. The TAC membership primarily includes city and county planners who review and make recommendations regarding long-range plans.
